The Government of India has blocked a total of 118 mobile apps which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India , Defence of India , Security of State and Public Order on September 2, 2020.
The Ministry of Electronic and Information Technology, Government of India under the section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with relevant provisions of the Information Technology rules 2009 and in views of emergent nature of threats , the governments has decided to ban all the 118 mobile apps as they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India.
Here is list of all the 118 banned apps:
The Government of India has banned 59 other apps previously which belong to China on July 29,2020 which included scial media platforms like TikTok, WeChat and Helo to prevent the threat posed by those applications. A government official has said that , ''These have have been used for a long time, and there are privacy and security issues which could lead to data going outside the country''.
Cyber trafficking is a cyber crime carried out by the means of computer and internet. The apps above can store the user's personal data and that data can be used as a cyber weapon on our country . Inorder to prevent all this happening teh Government of India has taken a decision to ban all these threat causing apps and thus protecting the sovereignty and integrity of India.
