England Prevail In The Nailbiting First T20:

Australia tour of England ,2020 includes 3 T20 matches and 3 One-Day Internationals (ODI). The T20 series began yesterday, on 4 September, 2020 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Maxwell Couldn't Get The Job Done

Australia on winning the toss had elected to bowl first and restricted England to 162-7. Maxwell, Kane Richardson and Ashton Agar picked 2 wickets each while Pat Cummins had one in his pocket. Starc, who choose not to play IPL 2020 to prepare himself for the T20 World Cup went for 30 runs in 3 over with an economy of 10 and went on to go wicketless in the match.


Jos Buttler who continued his form from the Test series with Pakistan gave a good opening for England scoring 44 runs of just 29 balls. Dawid Malan then joined the party scoring 66 of 43 balls. They took England to a good score of 162.


Australia opened with Aaron Finch (C) and David Warner gave an excelling opening partnership of 96 runs. Finch with 46 and Warner with 58 runs in their bag almost had the match in their pocket. Archer broke the partnership between the two and the next incoming batsmen were not able to score much with most of the, going back to the pavilion with a single digit score. With 9 runs required of the last 3 balls , Stoinis couldn't finish the match for Australia. Jofra Archer and Adil Rasid picketd 2 wickets each while Mark Wood picked one.
